Quality Education Standards Office

A quality mark supporting confidence in educational provision aligned with defined standards.

About QESO

The Quality Education Standards Office (QESO) is an independent quality framework and standards body established to support clear, ethical, and well-structured educational provision, particularly within online, blended, and non-regulated learning environments.

QESO is not a school, awarding body, regulator, or government-recognised accreditation authority. It does not issue qualifications or confer statutory recognition. Its role is to provide a documented quality framework against which educational programmes may be reviewed and approved for alignment with defined standards of good practice.

Purpose

QESO exists to bring clarity and transparency to education settings where formal regulation may be limited or inconsistent.

Its purpose is to:

  • Define what “quality” means in practical, observable terms

  • Promote ethical, learner-centred educational practice

  • Support consistency in curriculum design and delivery

  • Enable programmes to evidence quality beyond informal claims

QESO is intended as a quality reference point, not a substitute for statutory regulation or formal accreditation.

What the QESO Quality Mark Represents

The QESO Quality Mark indicates that a specific educational programme has been reviewed against the QESO Quality Framework and has demonstrated alignment with its stated standards.

The Quality Mark:

  • Applies only to the approved programme, not necessarily the provider as a whole

  • Confirms alignment with defined quality standards

  • Does not imply regulatory approval, qualification recognition, or accreditation

Use of the Quality Mark is governed by documented conditions to ensure clarity and integrity.

The QESO Quality Framework

All approvals are based on alignment with the QESO Quality Framework, which sets standards across key areas including:

  • Governance and ethical practice

  • Curriculum design and planning

  • Teaching and learning practice

  • Assessment and feedback

  • Learner wellbeing and safeguarding

  • Continuous improvement and reflection

Framework Version: QESO Quality Framework v1.0

Scope: Online, blended, and non-regulated educational provision

The framework is reviewed periodically to maintain relevance and clarity.

Governance and Administration

QESO is privately governed and administered under a defined internal governance structure to ensure consistent and fair application of its framework.

Decisions relating to framework development, programme approval, and use of the Quality Mark are made in accordance with documented standards and version-controlled policies.
